Cuban Cigar Fest in Havana
The annual International Cuban Cigar Festival is opening in Havana on Tuesday.
More than 1,000 producers and experts from 70 countries are attending the event, including a 30-member delegation from Russia.
The festival’s opening will take place at the picturesque Fortress of San Carlos de la Cabana which was built in the second half of the 18th century by order of King Carlos III.
The main events of the festival include a competition among cigar sommeliers and a cooking show in which chefs will prepare dishes the basic ingredient of which is the Cuban-made tobacco.
Also on the program are the visits to the Rum Museum and bars which were frequented by Ernest Hemingway.
About 80 brands of tobacco which are sold in more than 150 countries are produced in Cuba.
