Britney Spears, Mel Gibson smoke cigars at Havana Club
BRITNEY Spears and Mel Gibson have enjoyed a night out together in Los Angeles at an exclusive members-only cigar club.
The pair met up last night at the Havana Club in Beverly Hills and spent almost three hours talking.
Gibson and Spears showed up separately shortly before 7pm For their rendezvous at the club, whose A-list members include include Ben Affleck, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Danny DeVito.
Spears, who was joined by her assistant and a bodyguard, tried to evade paparazzi by driving into an underground parking garage when she arrived at the watering hole.
An upbeat Gibson left his silver Lexus with the valet and smiled as photographer's snapped his picture.
About 9:30pm, Spears left the club for her Studio City home, while Gibson stayted at the bar until about 11.
Gibson, who overcame alcohol dependency after a court-ordered counselling program following his arrest for drink driving in 2006, has offered guidance to Spears over the past five months since she was admitted involunatarily to hospital.
The unlikely friendship between the 26-year-old pop singer and the 52-year-old Oscar-winner surprised Hollywood when it was first revealed in March, when the duo was spotted together in public having dinner at a restaurant.
The two once neighbors inside a Malibu enclave (Spears now lives in a gated community in Studio City)
It was then revealed that that Gibson and his wife Robin - who were neighbours of Spears in a Malibu enclave before the singer moved - had reached out to the troubled chart star following her hospital stay in February.
In May, Gibson, his wife, Spears and her father Jamie went on holiday together at the Braveheart star's secluded $35 million ranch in Costa Rica.
